Mars in Aquarius

Mars governs how you assert yourself — your instinct for going after what you want, and how you handle conflict. In Aquarius, that takes on an air temperament — independent and idea-driven, quietly resistant to convention.

By tradition Mars is neither strong nor weak in Aquarius, so it simply takes on the sign's character rather than being helped or hindered by it.

Aquarius is an air sign — mental and social — energy that connects ideas.

What Mars in Aquarius actually looks like

• In practice this shows up as being independent and idea-driven, quietly resistant to convention.
• Under pressure it defaults to type: mental and social — energy that connects ideas. That is the air reflex, for better and worse.
• Because Aquarius is fixed, it sustains — it holds a course once committed, hard to move off it, slow to begin and slow to let go.

Easy to misread as detachment or indecision, when it is usually a need to think it through out loud first.

Same air element as Mars in Gemini and Libra, but where those lean mutable and cardinal, Aquarius is fixed: it sustains, holds a course once committed, hard to move off it, slow to begin and slow to let go.
